Why a series of sessions
Hair grows in cycles, and laser energy only disables follicles in the active growth phase. Most clients need a series of roughly four to ten sessions to catch each cycle in turn (spaced about four to eight weeks apart on the face and six to twelve weeks apart on the body), which is why results build steadily with each visit. Lighter and finer hair is more resistant and can call for the higher end of that range.

Hair color matters more than skin tone
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair, so it performs best on hair with color: dark blonde through black. White, gray, and true-red hair have very little of that pigment and respond poorly. We’ll look at your hair at your consultation and be straight with you about what to expect. Skin tone is far less limiting than it used to be: Fusion’s wavelength options treat deeper skin tones safely, which is why “your skin is too dark for laser” is advice that has aged out. And if ingrown hairs or razor irritation are the real complaint, those usually settle within the first few sessions.
Preparing for your sessions and after
Shave the area within 24 hours before each appointment (the follicle must be present but the surface hair gone), and avoid waxing or plucking for several weeks prior. Skip significant sun exposure and self-tanner on the area before and after treatment. Afterward, expect mild redness for a few hours; avoid hot tubs, saunas, and intense exercise for 24 hours. Between sessions, treated hairs shed on their own. Resist the tweezers.
